My Secret Blog: A Garden Where Feelings Flow

12 Apr 2007 (Thu)

I HAVE A “SECRET” BLOG SINCE 2003 which I’ve hardly publicized over the years. I don’t even ping any Web services such as Pingomatic or Technorati or Ping.sg. There are a few reasons (be forewarned):

  • I’m a rather private and introspective person, which may come as a surprise to certain people. Someone had once commented, “But you’re so outspoken!” Yes, where work is concerned, I am often quite forthright
  • In this blog, I write about my faith, inner thoughts and sometimes feelings. Sometimes, I merely quote passages or verses that I like. All these I had presumed that most people wouldn’t be interested in. In fact, this blog is quite religious. More specifically, it’s Christian and Catholic. People who are non-Christian sometimes get rather defensive (even offensive) when they are presented with something religious (or Christian).
  • I’ve wanted to migrate this blog to WordPress for months, but have yet to find the time or the specific instructions (or means) to do so.

BUT WHY THIS CHANGE NOW? I’m beginning to notice that many bloggers can get quite personal and many blog readers actually like to read personal details and thereby get to know the author more personally.

Also, some people have mistaken me for a man. They said, “You write so impersonally in your blog.”

PLUS: It would be wonderful if some of you actually like what I’ve written there and start sharing with me more interesting or inspiring stories of similar nature!

So anyway, to stop teasing your curiosity, here’s my “secret” blog: SingleCatholicWoman. Note that this is NOT a Singles ad. ;-) I’m simply blogging about the challenges and opportunities (or advantages) of being single, Catholic and female.

Ha…now we know your secrets. :)

  2. J.K. says:

Not all secrets. ;-) But you’ll definitely find out much more about me in that blog than in this one. Afterall, this blog’s focus is on learning, design & technology (not me).

I at first started my blog for fun then like you migrated over to more of education and technology. I to kind of wanted to keep my blog private and my educational blog more focused on the public.

Maybe I to should change my viewpoints. My secret blog isn’t major, I just thought not appealing to the masses. Maybe I had better review it again

Thanks for the blog I will have to go view it

You know what you need? Your own quiet place to meditate when you do your writings like this. Me? I use the beautiful arbor that my husband (saint!) built for me. You can just sit and think and write and shut the rest of the world out for an afternoon. I definitely recommend it! If you’re thinking about getting hooked on solitude like me, check out the page we used to help us build ours: http://www.kaycircle.com/index.php?q=What-is-an-Arbor
It has some really nice instructions and tips on how best to build it, different structural designs, and materials. Inner peace is waiting for you!

Hi! I love getting your comments, especially on-topic questions, opinions, experiences or insights. In fact, as Chris Brogan put it, "The more valuable your comments, the more it reflects on your ability and your character." Only then is it useful to build awareness of your brand. And if I'm impressed by your comment, I may write a post that links to some useful content on your blog. On the other hand, personal attacks (on anyone), inane comments, and advertorial comments (e.g. comments signed off with a product/service name and not a human name/nickname... read my rant here) will be deleted or sent to my Spam filter.
