John Edwards: My Twitter Friend!

19 Mar 2007 (Mon)

JOHN EDWARDS, presidential candidate in the USA, added me as a friend on Twitter last night. Something like this in Singapore — say, PM Lee did this — would definitely make headline news. It’s probably nothing in the States by now?
John Edwards added me on Twitter!

So now, on my Followers page, I have the honor (perhaps) of seeing this:
John Edwards: Follows me on Twitter?

Social media used by John EdwardsACTUALLY, I DON’T understand politics in Singapore or in the USA. However, it’s really interesting to read and observe a few things:

Yep, it’s Howard Dean all over again but this time all the candidates are more savvy. I was also blown away when John Edwards added me as a friend on Twitter (and Flickr too, I think)!

I met the folks who ran the Dean campaign earlier this month at SXSW. Apparently the Obama campaign people were in the same room but I didn’t get a chance to meet them.

You were at SXSW! Lucky you!

Social media IS getting political. In fact, from what I’ve read, blogs gained mainstream momentum mainly around the US 2004 presidential election.

Beware of subliminal messages embedded in “casual chatter” with “friends”!
